We are in the present age where we are surrounded and supported by modern technology that it has greatly improved our way of living. One of its greatest contributions is the internet.  Internet is a global wide area network that provides us with unlimited resources and services available digitally. One of its services is online communication through different modes of connectivity like social media websites and applications. As of January 2019, it is recorded that there are 4.39 billion active internet users, which almost 60% of the world population. Following behind with a number of almost 4 billion are the mobile internet users, more than half of the world population. Social Media as being a tool for online communication, is also widely used across the world. Almost all the countries have scored high
on the monthly active users of their most active social media platforms in their country
With the available data from the internet, it is apparent that we are addicted to using the internet. However, even with its benefits, it can also have its negative consequences. Problems may appear once people start to get addicted to the internet. Problems in our health, body, and relationships will develop and may soon affect our lives.Internet addiction is already considered to be a serious behavioral health problem and its is a proliferate in Asia.
Several studies showed results of a higher prevalence of internet addiction among Filipino adolescents compared to other Asian countries.
Adolescence is a pivotal period as this is when the youngster is finding an optimal balance between self-knowledge and identity confusion. Peer relations during this stage holds a big part for the development of their own social sense. However, face to face interaction with peers decreases while time alone increases because of several factors, leaving them vulnerable to using the Internet to compensate for what was lost. The establishment of social medias has also urged people to supplement face-to-face interaction with online communication.
Being part of the adolescent group, college students are most likely to being socially isolated or being lonely as they’re in the verge of changing their environment and their company of people. College students use the internet to distract and  compensate lost relationships with online peers but the longer they use the internet, the more they will be lonely and be socially dissatisfied. So how do we combat the growing problem?
So what is cinematic experience?
Cinematic Experience is experienced through the senses, emotions, and embodiment.Basically it is the dynamic relation of the spectator and screen. Through cinematic experience, we able to have psychological relief from our psychological traumas. The origin of cinematic experience is based from Cinematic Apparatus Theory, which argues that a film requires the unconscious work of the spectator in order to be able to generate meaning.
So film satisfies our three unconscious desires which are
Our Desire for ego, Desire to desire, And desire for the object
This can relate to space through the curiosity driven theory, which the person is stimulated when something in the physical environment attracts our attention. As the person explores a space, they perceive a space through a sense of familiarity as it is to difficult to disconnect the physical realm and abstract notions from our memories, dreams, fears, and everyday existence. Any space can play a different role in our daily lives and imagination.

The amalgamation of our perception and experience of space (physical space) added with our inherent knowledge, contextual acclamation, past memories, and mental psyche (mind space), constitutes to the ‘lived space’ or the cinematic space. To further enhance their curiosity, a story needs to be told.
Suspense as being the most powerful tool for attention, has been always used in cinema, be it technical or psychological.
Known as the master of suspense, Alfred Hitchcock utilizes the space in his movies with the psychological content of the movie and the choreography of dramatic movements.
Through the elements of suspense, scenes are borrowed from movies that features this element. And will translate it by applying a method from Manhattan Transcripts which highlights the movement, space and action of the scene. This would be the first iteration.
For the 2nd iteration, the researcher has combined each iteration to create different narratives through a Structural Affect Theory.
Each of the previous iteration are meant to fuel the feelings of suspense.  When combined, the narrative of the space completely changes as a whole and gives the full experience of suspense to the user.
For the third iteration, site context will be incorporated into the space. Each folly has its own unique narrative path that orchestrates the movement of a person within the space while still giving them the free will on how they will explore. Portions are deducted to give breathing space for the users.
The elements of voyeurism, transition, and look can be seen from the section view of the folly.
Elements of Look, fragmentation, and doubt can be seen from the section perspective.
Elements of voyeurism, look, monument and fragmentation can be seen from its section.
Elements of voyeurism, fragmentation, monument, and continuity can be seen from its section.
Proxemics-  is about the Physical distance adopted by user.  It is an important source of nonverbal information which contributes to the overall meaning of conversation
Amount of Personal Space
Intimate Distance-Contact to 18 inches; Personal Distance-18 inches to 4 feet; Social Distance-4 feet to 12 feet; Public Distance- Beyond 12 feet
As you can see from the  perspective, the researcher inputted a personal bubble to each person using the space to showcase how the folly causes them to interact.
The site elements, such as the trees and buildings. The experience creates a sense of realness and familiarity to the user leading to a cinematic experience. Again cinema combines real elements with suspense and therefore the researcher has incorporated this for a complete experience in the design. By manipulating the vision and perception, the proponent was able to distract the students and create a chance of face to face interaction that they lack in their everyday lives. The goal was to trigger this interaction rather than to make it happen.

Thank you for taking time to read my conceptual thesis. This was done on my last year of studying Architecture from De La Salle College of Saint Benilde last 2019.
